The author has been using bicycles as a daily mode of transportation all of his life as part of his upbringing in the Netherlands. He has a keen interest in bicycling culture and policy. This encompasses urban planning, infrastructure, technology, and legal and cultural aspects. He is a graduate of the University of Groningen and spent a decade of his professional life in the Dutch traffic education system.

Having lived, cycled, and advocated for cycling in the United States of America for over ten years, he has developed a passion for contributing to the U.S. cycling experience from the Dutch perspective.
